Metro Atlanta, Georgia – On Monday, July 23, 2018, Winton Machine participated in the 2nd Annual Made in America Product Showcase. Businesses from each of the 50 states were invited to display their products made and produced in the United States.  Winton Machine was notified about the opportunity by their National Association of Manufacturing regional representative and submitted their information to be considered by the White House event staff. As a small manufacturer, the owners of Winton Machine were quite surprised they had been chosen to represent the State of Georgia. “We immediately accepted and all of us at Winton Machine felt an overwhelming sense of pride,” said Lisa Winton.

“Our time at the White House was an amazing once in a lifetime experience both personally and professionally,” said Lisa. “From a business perspective, I realized there are many companies making products in the United States that people might mistakenly think are only manufactured overseas such as clothing, shoes, sheets, light fixtures, snowboards and even cookie cutters. Everyone we met had a unique story to share about their companies and were proud to showcase the high quality products they create.”

“We had a conversation with Vice President Pence and SBA Administrator Linda McMahon on the many ways Georgia and Gwinnett County supports manufacturing,” said George Winton. “Workforce development is a hot topic in Washington D.C. and we spoke specifically about the STEM education opportunities in Gwinnett County as well as Georgia’s impressive technical college system.”

George and Lisa are grateful to other Cabinet Members and House Representatives including Congressman Buddy Carter (1st District of Georgia) and Congressman Rob Woodall (7th District of Georgia) who stopped by their exhibit. Lisa commented, “Congressman Woodall, who has spent time with us at our Suwanee facility, also made time to visit us while we were at the White House.” Lisa added, “I believe manufacturing should be bi-partisan given its global, national and local economic impact. This event was an honor for everyone who was selected to represent their home states, their companies and showcase their contributions to manufacturing in America.”
